As Dean of the Business School, you will lead on the development and implementation of the School’s strategy by working collaboratively with the senior leadership team to develop and inspire others to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence, and to deliver on the Faculty and University objectives. You will work closely with the Deans of the Business School on our China and Malaysia Campuses to develop new programmes and enhance existing programmes, as well as achieve further accreditation for the School.

You will be an experienced strategic leader and an inspirational role model with the tenacity, drive and motivation to progress and implement the School’s strategic plans, in accordance with delegated responsibility from the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor (FPVC). You will be accountable to the FPVC for all aspects of the performance and running of the School, including resource and budget management, and working closely with the FPVC and Associate Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellors as appropriate, you will have responsibility for the development of educational and research capacity and talent within the School. You will undertake functional responsibility for specific agreed Faculty cross cutting activities when requested and your working knowledge of, and commitment to, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters is essential.

You will have the ability and drive to plan and lead the delivery of research and teaching programmes and to develop sources of funding, as well as a sustained track record in publishing internationally excellent, peer reviewed journal articles in a relevant field, including at REF 4* level, and a sustained track record of teaching excellence. You will engage in ongoing personal development, and undertake original research of international excellence.

As the ideal candidate, you will be emotionally intelligent with people-centred leadership skills and have commitment to equality of opportunity for all. You will be a strategic thinker, with effective analytical capability to facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to attract leading scholars to the Business School as well as collaborators from business, industry and the public sector. You will possess excellent research skills and the ability to delegate and manage a number of competing demands. You will be flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances, and show the ability to exercise judgement, make decisions and take appropriate risks (which are in the best interests of the School and the University). The ideal candidate will be solutions focused and have good ambassadorial and diplomatic skills.

Qualified with a PhD in a relevant discipline and having significant experience of working in a business/management school, you will have an international reputation in terms of research, teaching and accreditation, as well as demonstrable experience as a senior leader within a University, where you will have successfully lead and managed teams to achieve high performance standards.

This a permanent professorial appointment within the Business School, but with the first 5 years as Dean of the School, with the possibility for extension of term as Dean.
