The University of Oxford have announced that Cornelia Van Duijn has been appointed to the Professorship of Epidemiology in the Nuffield Department of Population Health. Professor Van Duijn is currently Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at Erasmus MC and will take up her new position on 1 August 2018.

The University of Sheffield has announced the appointment of Professor Koen Lamberts as its next President and Vice-Chancellor. Professor Lamberts is currently Vice-Chancellor and President at the University of York and takes up his new position on 1 November 2018.

Professor Siladitya Bhattacharya has been appointed Head of Cardiff University’s School of Medicine.  Professor Bhattacharya was previously Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Director of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Aberdeen.

Royal Holloway, University of London have announced Professor Ken Badcock as their new Senior Vice-Principal, Academic Strategy, Partnerships and Resources. Professor Badcock will join Royal Holloway in October 2018 and is currently Executive Pro Vice-Chancellor of Science & Engineering at the University of Liverpool.

The University of Cambridge has recently appointed Karen Kennedy as the first Director of the recently-established Strategic Partnerships Office. Dr Kennedy joins the University in July from the National Cancer Research Institute, where she has been Director since 2013.

The University of East Anglia has appointed Professor Frances Bowen as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor for Social Sciences. Professor Bowen is currently Dean of the School of Business and Management and Professor of Innovation at Queen Mary University of London and will take up her now post on 1 September 2018.

Professor Jon Friedland, an infectious diseases expert, will lead Research and Enterprise at St George’s, University of London. Professor Friedland joins St George’s from Imperial College London.

Professor Andy Long has been appointed as the University of Nottingham’s new Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Professor Long has studied and worked at the University since 1990 and was previously Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Engineering.

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama has announced that Professor Helena Gaunt, currently Vice Principal and Director of Innovation at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, has been appointed as the College’s new Principal. Professor Gaunt will take up the post in September 2018.

Professor Christina van der Feltz-Cornelis, world-renowned mental health researcher, is to join Hull York Medical School and the University of York as Professor of Psychiatry and Epidemiology. Christina joins the School from Tranzo, Tilburg University in the Netherlands.

The University of Bristol announced the appointment of Rich Oldfield as the new Chief Executive of the National Composites Centre (NCC). Owned by the University, the NCC is world-leading in composites research and development and the foremost centre for composites in the UK High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Rich, who is currently Senior Vice President for Business Development and Strategy at GKN, will take up his new position from 1 September 2018.

Queen’s University Belfast has announced the appointment of Joan Parsons as the new Head of Queen’s Film Theatre.  Previously Senior Programmer at Showroom Workstation in Sheffield, Joan brings a successful track record in developing audiences for independent film across the North of England.
